Super 6, also called Lucky 6, pays when Banker wins with a total of 6. In an 8-deck shoe that happens on 5.39% of hands. At the common 12 to 1 payout the baccarat Super 6 bet has a house edge of 29.98%, and even at 15 to 1 it is still 13.82%. It only breaks even at about 17.57 to 1.
So it is one of the most expensive bets on the layout. Here is where those numbers come from.
What is Super 6 in baccarat?
Super 6 shows up mostly on no-commission tables. On those tables a Banker win usually pays 1 to 1 with no 5% commission, except when Banker wins with 6, which only pays half. Super 6 is a separate side bet on exactly that event: Banker wins, and Banker's final total is 6.
A Tie does not count. If both sides have 6, the Super 6 bet loses.
How often Banker wins with 6
We listed every possible order of cards in a fresh 8-deck shoe and played each one out under the standard drawing rules. Banker wins with a 6 on 5.39% of all hands.
That splits into two cases. Banker wins with a two-card 6 on 3.72% of hands, and with a three-card 6 on 1.66%. Some tables pay these two cases differently, which is why the split matters.
About one hand in 19 is a Banker win with 6. A fair payout would need to be about 17.57 to 1.
Super 6 house edge at different payouts
The payout changes from table to table. Here is the house edge for the paytables you are most likely to see.
| Pays | House edge | |
|---|---|---|
| Super 6, flat payout | 12 to 1 | 29.98% |
| Super 6, split payout | 2 cards 12 to 1, 3 cards 20 to 1 | 16.68% |
| Super 6, flat payout | 15 to 1 | 13.82% |
| Banker, for comparison | 0.95 to 1 | 1.06% |
At 12 to 1, the bet gives back about 70 of every 100 wagered over the long run. That is worse than the Tie at 8 to 1, which costs 14.36%. Our baccarat tie bet odds post has the full Tie math.
At the most common payout, Super 6 costs about 28 times more per bet than Banker.
Super 6 and no-commission Banker are the same 6
On a no-commission table, Banker wins with 6 still happen 5.39% of the time. The table simply pays them at 1 to 2 instead of 1 to 1. That half-payment is how the house replaces the 5% commission, and it is why no-commission Banker ends up at 1.46% instead of 1.06%. We break it down in no commission baccarat.
So the table takes a little from Banker bettors on every winning 6, then offers Super 6 as a way to bet on that same 6 at a much worse price.
Can the remaining cards change Super 6?
Yes, a little. Super 6 depends on specific totals, so the cards that are already gone move its odds more than they move Banker or Player. A shoe heavy in cards that build 6s pushes the chance up; a shoe short on them pushes it down.
Even so, starting from a 29.98% edge, the shoe has a long way to go before the bet turns positive. At the start of a fresh shoe every bet has a negative expected value, and only the remaining cards can change that, briefly. We measured how much the shoe moves different bets in how remaining cards change baccarat odds.
Betting systems can't fix a 29.98% edge. Only the cards left in the shoe can move it, and rarely far enough.
Check the side bets on your own shoe
Baccarator tracks this for you. After each hand you enter the cards and tap Calculate, and it recalculates the odds and expected value for Banker, Player, Tie, pairs and side bets from the cards still in the shoe. If a bet briefly turns positive, it shows a Kelly sizing suggestion. That only appears when expected value is positive, it is a long-run average, and the next hand can still lose. Positive moments are rare and short. You can practice with virtual chips, and no real money is involved.
