A shuffling machine doesn't change the basic odds of baccarat. Whether a person or a machine shuffles, a fresh 8-deck shoe gives Banker 45.86%, Player 44.62% and Tie 9.52%. What a continuous shuffling machine does change is the shoe itself. Because used cards go back in after each round, the remaining cards never drift far from a full deck, and side bets almost never get the chance to turn positive.
There are two kinds of machine, and they work very differently.
Batch shufflers vs continuous shufflers
A batch shuffler mixes a whole shoe before play starts. After that, the shoe is dealt the normal way until the cut card. For the math it is exactly like a hand shuffle: cards leave the shoe, and the odds move a little from hand to hand.
A continuous shuffling machine works differently. The cards from each round go back into the machine, which keeps mixing them in. The cards still available stay close to a full set, so every hand looks almost like the first hand of a fresh shoe.
With a continuous shuffler, the shoe never gets deep enough for the cards to matter.
A batch shuffler gives you a normal shoe. A continuous shuffler gives you a fresh shoe every hand.
What changes for side bets
In a hand-dealt shoe, narrow side bets react to the cards left. We simulated 20,000 shoes and counted how many hands each bet had a positive expected value.
| House edge, fresh shoe | Positive hands per shoe, dealt shoe | Positive hands, continuous shuffler | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dragon 7 (40 to 1) | 7.61% | 9.39 | ≈0 |
| Panda 8 (25 to 1) | 10.19% | 4.15 | ≈0 |
| Player or Banker Pair (11 to 1) | 10.36% | 1.70 | ≈0 |
| Tie (8 to 1) | 14.36% | 0.11 | ≈0 |
With a continuous shuffler, those numbers drop to about zero. Each hand is dealt from what is close to a full shoe, so every side bet keeps its full house edge every time. Banker and Player hardly move in a dealt shoe anyway, so for them the machine makes no practical difference.
Banker and Player don't care how the cards were shuffled. Side bets do.

Are shuffling machines rigged?
A shuffling machine doesn't decide who wins. It mixes cards. The odds in this post come straight from the composition of the deck, and they are the same whether a person or a machine did the shuffling. Worries about rigged games come up often, and our is baccarat rigged post looks at what real results look like.
A shuffling machine changes how cards are mixed, not the odds of the hand you are betting on.
At the start of a fresh shoe every bet has a negative expected value. Only the cards left in the shoe can change that, and only briefly. With a continuous shuffler, even that brief window disappears. Betting systems can't change it either way.
See how a dealt shoe changes hand by hand
In a normally dealt shoe, the remaining cards move the odds after every hand, and you can follow that.
After each hand you enter the cards and tap Calculate, and Baccarator recalculates the odds and expected value for Banker, Player, Tie, pairs and side bets from the cards still in the shoe. If a bet briefly turns positive, it shows a Kelly sizing suggestion. That only appears when expected value is positive, it is a long-run average, and the next hand can still lose. Positive moments are rare and short. You can choose 6 or 8 decks and practice with virtual chips, with no real money involved.
Baccarat shuffling machine FAQ
Does a shuffling machine change baccarat odds?
Not for Banker, Player or Tie. A fresh 8-deck shoe gives 45.86%, 44.62% and 9.52% however it was shuffled.
Can you count cards with a continuous shuffler?
No. Used cards keep going back in, so the remaining cards stay close to a full set and side bets almost never turn positive.
Is a batch shuffler different?
Yes. It shuffles a whole shoe before play, and that shoe is then dealt normally until the cut card.
